Flora and Fauna:
Tarrytown Wildscape

Find out what lives on the Tarrytown Wildscape! Read about the original species planted, the newcomers, invasives, and critters spotted in this thriving engineered ecosystem.

Snap a picture and report sightings of species not listed below and we'll review them and add them to the site!

Cultivated Flora

Native plants carefully selected for their contribution to the ecosystem and suitability to the project's location. These plants were intentionally introduced by Lifeblood of Gaia volunteers and staff.

Native Volunteer Flora

Native plants which were not purposefully introduced to the median but have been spotted on the median, adding diversity and unique ecological benefits.

Non-Native and Invasive Flora

These plants are the unwelcome denizens of the Wildscape Project, which we are constantly working to control and eliminate. Many of them were already in the soil when we began the project, or arrived in contaminated soil, shoes, or on the wind.

Fuana

Insects, reptiles, birds, rodents, and other critters that have been spotted visiting or living at the Tarrytown Wildscape project.
